XAMPP MySQL / phpmyadmin root password

XAMPP Solution #01  (Using Security Console)

http://localhost/security/

Security Console creates a password for the MySQL user root and is adjusting the phpMyAdmin configuration.

http://localhost/security/xamppsecurity.php

XAMPP Solution #02 XAMPP Shell (Command Prompt)

Open XAMMP Shell

mysqladmin.exe -u root password newpassword

AND you must also adjust the phpMyAdmin configuration for this new password,

Let say XAMPP is installed in Drive E,   i.e “E:\xampp

first create backup of file “E:\xampp\phpMyAdmin\config.inc.php”  config.inc.php and change the lines:
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘user’] = ‘root’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘password’] = ”;
To:
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘user’] = ‘root’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘password’] = ‘newpassword’;

NOTE : It’s always a good practice to backup config , settings file of any software before making any changes so that u can revert back when needed 🙂
